Thomas Edwin Hancock Sr., 90 of Bluffton, SC, formerly of Greenlawn, New York passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Savannah Hospice, Savannah, GA. Tom was born in Port Jefferson, NY to the late Roslyn Keller and Kenneth Hancock.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Carole Ericson Hancock. He is survived by his children – Lauran Hancock Johnson (Francis) of Greenlawn, New York and Thomas Edwin Hancock, Jr of Bluffton, South Carolina, formerly of Greenlawn, NY, his brother Roger Hancock (Peggy) of Flat Rock, NC and his loving grandchildren, Julia Johnson (Derek) and Timothy Johnson (Samantha).
He was a proud graduate and active alumnus of the State University of New York – Maritime College at Fort Schuyler, class of 1958.
He concluded his career in the Marine Reinsurance industry; retiring as an Executive Vice President at Willcox Inc.
Tom enjoyed playing golf and sharing his love of sailing with his family. He was a member of the Centerport Yacht Club for 40 years, taking family vacations on their boat from Long Island Sound as far north as Maine. Tom and Carole enjoyed traveling all over the world, having enjoyed more than 25 cruises.
He was an avid sports fan and NY Giants season ticket holder. Tom and Carole were actively involved with their grandchildren’s lives and loved them dearly.
Visitation will be held at Sauls Funeral Home - Bluffton, SC on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 4 pm until 6 pm . A service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11 am at Sauls Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens.
