William “Bill” Trainer of Bluffton, SC, husband of Patricia R. Trainer passed away on February 19, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his daughter Julia Ann Darby and son Anthony Grant Darby.
Bill was born on February 13, 1937 in Memphis, TN. After graduation from Memphis State University he enlisted in the Navy. Bill retired from the United States Navy as a Commander after 20 years of service. A career in real estate would follow before final retirement in SC.
Tennis, biking and golf were among his favorite passions. Sports brought many close friendships and much happiness into his life both in Charleston and Bluffton. He was a devoted member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Sundays were always a cherished time for him.
Bill found joy in each and every day, even through his long battle with illness. He will be deeply missed by many and remembered forever for his kind and generous spirit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
