Thomas Helms Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery on Jan. 30, 2026.
Thomas Matthew Helms, age 24, passed away on December 18,2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on April 17, 2001, in Orange Park, Florida, Thomas brought joy and energy to all who knew him.

He completed his education at AMI Kids Clay County School, where he began building a foundation of determination and resilience. Thomas later pursued a career in flooring installation through his business, Thomas M. Helms Enterprise LLC. He also worked for nearly four years at Amazon Warehouse #007 in Jacksonville, FL, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Thomas' faith was an important part of his life. He attended Celebration Church in Orange Park and made a personal commitment to Christ during a summer camp in high school. He later affirmed this decision through baptism, marking a meaningful step in his spiritual journey.

Thomas is lovingly remembered by his mother, Natalie E. Helms; his brother, James A. Helms; his sister, Kristina E. Helms; Grandparents Marvin D. Helms and Emily C. Helms; his Aunt Stephanie Davis and Uncle Cameron Davis; Uncle Marv and Aunt Carol Helms; his Bonus Mom, Bobby Jean "BJ" Hayward; and his Mom # 2, Ms. Vickki. On his father's side, he is lovingly remembered by siblings Jessica Mills, Aubrey Mills, Jada Crook, Joshawa Small, Lawanda Boodie, Lorenzo Small, Sonya Noble, Cheyenne Small, Chenoa Small, Brittany Barnes, James Small, and many more Aunts, Uncles, Great Aunts & Uncles, Cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James D. Small.

A passionate Jacksonville Jaguars season ticket holder, Thomas loved sports and proudly wore jerseys year-round. He admired Trevor Lawrence in football, Lebron James in basketball, and cheered for the Florida State Seminoles.

He found joy at the family beach house – Linga-Longa- fishing with his mother and walking along Alligator Point. He also enjoyed gaming on his PS5 and exploring music from all over the world.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 6, 2026, at HighPoint Community Church, 84 Knight Boxx Road. Service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception. A graveside gathering will be at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 2:30 PM.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
