Archie Monroe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery on Jan. 29, 2026.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Archie Earl Monroe, Jr., father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was born on August 17, 1935 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. The first-born child of Archie Earl Monroe, Sr. and Margaret Holt Monroe. He passed away on January 24,2026 in Jacksonville, FL.

Archie is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lucille Monroe.

He is survived by daughters Vickie King, Felicia Colley, Bonnie Anz and son, Samuel Monroe (Stacey), one sister, Camilla Shannon, two brothers, Kenneth Monroe and Robert Monroe (EllaMae), along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As a young man, Archie served in the Airforce. For years, he was a general contractor in the Jacksonville area. Previously, he owned and operated two health food stores, as well. An important part of his life was his devotion to health and organic living. He lived that life to the fullest. He loved old western movies and the music of Nana Mouskouri and Celine Dion.

He enjoyed playing Bingo at the Mandarin Senior Citizen Center and watching baseball and softball. Archie's two cats, Lucky and Angel, gave him hours of companionship.

Archie attended Christ Church in Mandarin.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm February 2, 2026 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd, in Orange Park 32073. Viewing is from 1:00 to 2:00. Reverand Mark Tyre of Christ Church will officiate.
