Thomas Frank Henstock was born February 13, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Milford and Muriel Henstock. Tom gave his heart to the Lord when he was 12 years old. In High School, he was on the school's cross country team. He helped win the 1954 City Championship. He graduated from Langley High School in Pittsburgh, on June 19, 1955. Tom entered the United States Air Force in 1956. He excelled and was selected as an outstanding Aviation Cadet and Pilot. He always said Jesus sat by him in the copilot's seat. He left flying in 1961 to go to Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri. He felt he was to teach. At Bible School Tom met Martha Zamora from Sheridan, Wyoming, and they married a year later. Tom was offered a scholarship for a Master's degree in Biblical Studies at CBI. In return, he went to Alaska and worked with missionaries for a summer. In 1963, Tom and Martha worked with Indians, Eskimos, servicemen and children. In the fall, a service was held for the students at CBI, and Tom received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Biblical Studies. After leaving Springfield, he worked for the Westminster Christian Schools in California, teaching kindergarten and fifth grade, until they told him he did not have certification to teach in that state. They moved to Buffalo, New York, to go to State University New York-Buffalo. He taught sixth grade in Buffalo Schools while he worked on and received his Master's and Doctoral degrees at SUNY-Buffalo. In 1970 Tom accepted employment at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He taught and mentored many doctoral students, and taught some of the first computer classes offered there. He had a consulting program to help schools in New England with redistricting challenges. Tom retired from Northeastern in 1985 to take on an Executive MBA with a focus on International Business. He also worked in Framingham, Massachusetts School District as their Business Manager. Martha was allergic to all the trees and weeds in Massachusetts and was told to move west. In 2000 they moved to Snohomish, Washington. Tom taught at Northwest Bible Institute in Kirkland. In 2001, Tom took an offer to go to China using his International Business degree. Wherever Tom was, he taught an adult Sunday School class. In Snohomish, he and his wife had a home group on hymns. He taught about the songs' doctrine, authors, etc. (Acts 2:42). In May of 2007 when Martha suffered a traumatic brain injury, Tom came every day to the trauma hospital in Seattle. A month later, he stopped doing everything else to take care of her. The hospital asked for a book, and he wrote Horizons of Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery. After her recovery they travelled to Waxhaw, North Carolina to volunteer at JAARS. Tom worked with translators since he knew Greek. They met Ellis and Martha Deibler, who told them about Go Ye Village, and they moved here in 2015. Tom fought the battle of Cerebellar Ataxia, but doctors were not able to help much. Tom is survived by his wife, Martha Henstock, of Go Ye Village, their two children, Mark and Michelle Henstock of Huntsville, Alabama, and his brother Bill Henstock and wife Marilyn of Charleston, West Virginia.
