Thomas Hopps Obituary

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Thomas was a proud retiree of UPS and a longtime resident of the Jersey Shore. He was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures-fishing by the water, collecting coins and Hess trucks, enjoying trips to Atlantic City, and relaxing with a cold beer in hand. Prior to his retirement he was a Shop Steward Teamsters Local 177. His easygoing nature, sharp wit, and big heart made him a beloved presence to all who knew him.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Alice Hopps. He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances Hopps; his loving daughters, Stephanie Lindquist and her husband Paul of Belmar, and Maria Hopps of Bradley Beach; his brother, Frank "Danny" Hopps of Venezuela; his sisters, Dolores and Frances Hopps of Staten Island, NY; his cherished granddaughters, Veronica Lindquist, Natalie Lindquist, and Jessica Hopps; and his great-grandson, Anthony Michael McIlvain.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, July 30th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold, NJ. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Twp., NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA, an organization close to Thomas's heart. To leave a message of condolence or for directions, please visit www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
