Thomas Hosking Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeBaun Funeral Homes & Crematory - Springhill Chapel on Dec. 5, 2025.
Thomas (Tom) Hosking, 88, died on December 1st, 2025, at Harrison Crossing Nursing Home in Terre Haute, IN. He was born September 1st, 1937, in Glen Cove, NY.

Tom was the son of Herbert & Ethel (Vinall) Hosking.

Tom went to Glen Cove High School in Long Island, NY. and graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. in 1959 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Tom served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a 1st Lieutenant. Upon graduation from college, he moved to Baltimore, MD. to work for Bethlehem Steel Corp. During this time, Tom met the love of his life, Mary, and they got married in 1961.

Tom and Mary moved from Baltimore to Terre Haute, IN. in 1968 as Tom took a job with Anaconda Aluminum. Tired of corporate life and politics, four years later, Tom left Anaconda Aluminum and joined a very small reprographic company called Rapid Reproductions in Terre Haute. Tom quickly realized this was his calling. In 1973, about a year after joining Rapid Reproductions, Tom bought the business. Both he and the business thrived. Tom was President of RR from 1973-2003. Tom also owned and was President of Impressions, Inc. from 1983-1988. This was a small printing company.

Tom's hobby was golf. Reading golf, watching golf, practicing/teaching golf. He was a 57-year member of the Country Club of Terre Haute. Professional organizations and/or volunteering included: Terre Haute Golf Association, Indiana Golf Association (Regional Director), Hulman Links Commission, President of Central Indiana East Side Merchants Association.

Predeceased by: Parents: Herbert & Ethel (Vinall) Hosking, Wife: Mary (Perrot) Hosking in 2019, Sister: Barbara Hosking in 2024.

Survivors include: Sister: Nancy (William) Briggs

Sons: Brian (Kelly) and Gary (Jane), Grandchildren: Zachary (Alyssa), Ellen, Alexa (Bryan) Murdoch, Jason, George, Greatgrandchildren: Maverick, Bowman, Hayden, Archie, Graham

No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to:

Friends of Rea Park, Inc. (A NFP 501c3 entity) P.O. Box 3304, Terre Haute, IN. 47803-3304

Tom will be remembered for a lot of reasons. He was a transplanted New Yorker who ended up in Terre Haute, IN. He loved golf almost as much as his family. After a successful business career, Tom and Mary lived on Anna Maria Island, FL for six months a year. They enjoyed hosting friends and family on AMI during the winter months having guests sign their "guest book".

Tom was famous among friends and family for his running commentary on "how pricey" everything was. He sometimes refused to participate in what he saw as ridiculous spending-whether golfing or dining at certain places-much to the amusement (and gentle teasing) of all his golf buddies.

Tom lived a long, wonderful life of 88 years. We will all miss sharing our lives with him, the love he gave us, the way he helped others with selfless acts of charity with no desire for credit or praise and most of all for leaving the world a better place because he was part of it.
