Thomas Hunt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by North Haven Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 1, 2026.
Thomas J. Hunt, 72 years old, of Hamden, Connecticut, passed away on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Tom was born in West Haven, CT, on June 1st, 1953, to his late parents George and Helen (Quinn) Hunt. Tom was a man who loved his family dearly. He leaves behind his brother, William Hunt (late wife Mary Hunt), nieces, Jeannine DelVasto (Deron) and Kerry Close (Chris), his pride and joys, great nieces, Melissa Hourigan (Michael) and Samantha Close, great nephew, Brandon DelVasto (Serena Plagemann), and his greatest gift, great-great nephew, Mason Hourigan, who he was so excited for. Tom was a simple man who enjoyed his quiet lifestyle and the most being with family and friends. He always enjoyed going out to a good dinner whenever he could (every weekend if he had it his way), he especially loved cheering on Sam at her volleyball games or taking her on at a good game of mini golf. He was butt of the family joke for "being prepared" and always carrying a full size bounty paper towel in his pocket, you never know when you need an extra, he'd say. Tom retired as the General Manager for XPO/RXO Logistics North Haven, CT, a job which he took great pride in. He'd call and say my metrics are the best in the area again. After retirement he wanted to keep busy, so he worked as a Customer Driver for Mercedes Benz North Haven, aside from being too tall to fit in the cars he always joked, He really enjoyed that as well and making new friends there'd too. Private funeral services have been entrusted to The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made in Tom's memory to the Connecticut Hospice Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
