Thomas William "Wheeler" Jackson, age 73, passed away on April 7, 2025, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Born on June 2, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Thomas lived a life marked by resilience, laughter, and an unwavering passion for the things he loved.
Thomas was the beloved husband of Sandra Jackson for 46 years. Together they built a family rooted in love and shared joy. He was a devoted father to Timothy (Kris) Jackson and Quinie (Wil) Leary. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren; Darren, Brittany, and Kelsey; and four great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also remembered fondly by his sisters Nancy (Jim) Gordon and Sandra Crook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gillis and MaryLee Jackson, and his sister Margaret (Howard) Parfrey.
Known affectionately as "Wheeler" Thomas had an infectious zest for life. Following a snowmobile accident in his early twenties that left him paralyzed, he lived a life that would envy us all. He did not let anything hold him back, and was an inspiration to everyone. He was full of energy and humor, always ready with a joke or a story that could light up any room. His spirit was unshakable; no challenge ever seemed too great for him to overcome. Those who knew him were drawn to his strength and warmth.
A lifelong enthusiast of stock car racing, Thomas could be found at local racetracks nearly every weekend. Golden Sands Speedway held a special place in his heart. Not only as his favorite track, but also as the venue where he proudly watched both his son and grandson compete. His love for racing was more than a pastime; it was a family tradition that brought generations together.
Thomas' passions extended beyond the racetrack. A loyal fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Cubs, he followed each season with dedication and enthusiasm. He also had a deep appreciation for cars- not just driving them but working on them. Whether tuning an engine or getting under the hood to fix something himself, he found joy in every mechanical challenge.
In addition to his hands-on hobbies, Thomas was an avid CB radio operator and enjoyed listening to his police scanner.
Thomas' presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter echoed through every gathering; his determination inspired those around him; and his love left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire strength and joy in their lives.
