Thomas Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brewitt Funeral Home, LLC - Epping on Jan. 21, 2026.
Thomas Howard Jackson, Tom, 70 of Epping, N.H. passed away on the evening of December 31, 2025 after a period of failing health. He was born on September 2, 1955 in Burlington, VT, and was the son of the late Richard L. and Dorothy C. Jackson.
Tom grew up in the New North End of Burlington and was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1973. Upon graduation, he attended Cornell University where he served as president of his fraternity, Zeta Psi. He graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and in 1978 with a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering.
Professionally, Tom had a long and distinguished career. Over the course of 38 years, he worked for the Getty, Texaco and Shell oil companies. Tom's area of expertise was overseeing and ensuring that the oil refineries were in compliance with federal environmental regulations. He enjoyed his time working for the oil industry and the years took him from Pennsylvania to California, Texas and Virginia.
Tom retired in the Fall of 2016 from Motiva, Shell, in Fairfax, Va. In 2020, he moved to NH to be near family. He bought his retirement home in Epping, NH and was enjoying his life and appreciated the support his siblings provided as he navigated the health complications from long term type 1 diabetes.
As a kind and spiritual man, Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as music from the 60's and 70's, history, movies, sitting by a lake, long and contemplative conversations with family and friends and most importantly the peace and comfort of his evening drives in the country.
He is survived by his siblings David Jackson (Joanne), Carole Jackson Morrill (Chris), Sue Jackson (Scott) and Mark Jackson (Lexi), his dear friend Mary Beth Hines, Aunt Jackie Coghlan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 3:00 on April 11, 2026 at Durham Community Church, 17 Main St., Durham NH. A reception will follow at the Three Chimney's INN in Durham, NH. after the ceremony and all are invited to attend.
