THOMAS JULIUS JANNSEN

JANNSEN, Thomas Julius Thomas, age 94, of Arlington, MA, died on December 6, 2024. He was born in Bristol, RI on October 11, 1930, to Thomas Christian and Anna Andrusko Jannsen. He was valedictorian of Bristol High School, Class of 1948 and continued on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, in Cambridge, MA. He entered the U.S. Air Force, as a lieutenant, following college and served during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, the late Helen Davenport Jannsen in 1955 and went on to earn a Master's degree in business from the Sloan School at MIT. He had a long, successful career at MITRE Corporation in Bedford, MA, retiring in the early 1990s. He is survived by many who loved him and will miss him dearly, son, Eric Jannsen and Lisa Hayden of Northborough, MA; daughter, Marilyn Jannsen of Woburn, MA; daughter, Jill Jannsen of Arlington, MA and Manhattan, NY; granddaughter, Julia (Jannsen) Zielinski, husband, Joe Zielinski; and great-grandson, Nathan Zielinski of Lancaster, MA; granddaughter, Emma Jannsen and fianc�, John Kennedy of Medford, MA; sister, Janet Boynton of Lincoln, MA; cousin, Bill Greuloch and wife, Jackie of Cleveland, OH; nieces and nephews in MA, RI, UT, WA; and dear family friend, Karen Bellinger of Tilton, NH. Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at the Story Chapel at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, in Cambridge, MA, on, Friday, December 27, 2024. Visitation from 10:30 - 11:30, at the Story Chapel, followed by Funeral Service at 11:30. Burial will immediately follow at the cemetery. A reception lunch will be held at a nearby location.
