Our beloved husband and father, Dana, sadly passed away in the early morning hours, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the age of 68. Dana was born May 6, 1954 to Clarence Herbert Johnson and Clara Darlene Johnson. He graduated from Weber High School. Over the years and a couple wives later, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Lemoine Johnson on September 10, 1988. Together they had a blended family of 6 amazing children.
Dana has lived in Utah his whole life but spent many years traveling the world. He loved camping and cruising with his beautiful wife and close friends. Many will remember him for his quick wit, jokes and fun sense of humor. He was always up for a good time.
Dana was also a man with many talents. He was a master craftsman and built the most stunning custom cabinetry along with many other family heirlooms. At the time of his death he was refurbishing a classic 1940 Ford pickup.
He had many passions in his life but his biggest was his family, especially his grandkids. As a family, we enjoyed many adventures and family parties. He loved to brag about his food (yes he was an amazing cook) and all the children were happy to taste test over game nights. Summer time he spent many hours as “Cabana Boy” to ensure the pool was pristine for our family pool parties. His other favorite time of year was Christmas. Bringing the family together every Christmas Eve for food and laughter meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sister, Patricia Lee Johnson; brother, Keith Wade Johnson (Robin); sister, Shirley Smith Christensen (Chris); children, Kris Johnson Acton (Jerry), Karol Johnson, Breezie Jean Liskey (Howard), Gary Merrill Poulsen (Christy), Ryan Neil Johnson (Danielle) and Laura Lee Thurber (Monty); as well as 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Dana is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathryn Smith Guthrie; brother, Terry Johnson.
In honor of Dana’s love for travel, please come in your tropical attire and celebrate his life with the family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard, Ogden UT 84401. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 6 to 8p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Canyon Home Care & Hospice, and especially his nurse, Heather Crosby, for her compassionate and amazing care.
