Funeral Services for Thomas Roland Kay, age 83, of Hico, La will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Hico Baptist Church with Bro. Conner Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Henry Cemetery near Hico under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.
Roland was born on October 23, 1941, in Bernice, LA and passed away at his residence in Hico, LA on September 6, 2025 following a brief illness.
Roland was a long-time member and deacon at Hico Baptist Church. His professional career spanned over 42 years in law enforcement. He was with the Ruston Police Department for 20 years and then retired from the Lincoln Parish Sherrif's Department with 22 years of service. Roland was preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin Melvin and Willie Mae Kay; his wife: Lonie Kay; and his three siblings: Clyde Kay, Bill Kay, and Bobbie Myers.
He is survived by his son: Mark Kay; his grandson: Thomas Kay and his wife, Christine; his granddaughter: Nicole Kay; his great grandson: Waylon Kay; his niece: Kim Elliott and husband, Robert and their daughter, Morgan Moore, and her 2 children: Brock and Jolie, and numerous other nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Burnham, Joey Davidson, Tommy Doss, Randall Hermes, Jim Hilton, Jay Kavanaugh, Donnie Kimbell, and Steve Rogers.
Visitation for Roland will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 5 – 8 PM at Hico Baptist Church.
Special thanks is extended to Roland's Hospice nurse, Bridget Kleman, and the other staff with Passages Hospice. Also, to Rachelle Lathan and her staff with Rachelle Lathan and Friends Health Services for their loving care for Roland during his final days.
