Thomas J. "Tom" Kolasa

Norwich – Thomas "Tom" J. Kolasa, 85, a long-time Norwich resident, passed away Aug. 27, 2025. He was born in Norwich, Feb. 9, 1940, the son of the late Thaddeus and Matilda (Borsa) Kolasa and was the loving husband of Frances (Wujcik) Kolasa.

Tom was a graduate of Norwich Technical High School, Class of 1958. He worked for over 30 years as a machinist at United Nuclear in Uncasville, as well as working part time for over 50 years at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home. He retired in 2008 after 16 years at Foxwoods Resort and Casino.

Tom was an avid fisherman, hunter and rock collector and lifetime member of the Valley Springs Sportsmans Club. He loved polka music and enjoyed going to dances with his wife and family.

In addition to his wife Frances, he is survived by his children: Walter, Anthony, John and Betty; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Peter Kolasa.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Avenue, Norwich. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at St. Joseph Church, 120 Cliff Street, Norwich. Private burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks with details to follow.
