Thomas C. Kovar

Thomas "Tom" Charles Kovar, age 77, of Brooklyn, Ohio, born October 12, 1948 was called to heaven November 29, 2025.

Tom was the beloved husband of Elaine E. (nee Labuda) who preceded him in death. He was the adored father of Christine Tomasch (George), William Kovar (Christina) and Thomas J. Kovar. Entertaining Grandpa to Kaitlyn, Matthew and Charlotte. Loved son of the late Charles and Rose Kovar and supportive friend to many.

Tom was drafted after high school and served his country in the Vietnam War. Following his service, he re-enlisted in the Army, serving in the Army Reserve and later in the National Guard. He served until 60 years of age and retired as an E-5 Staff Sergeant.

Tom held many different jobs, both full-time and part-time, simultaneously. He often worried about making ends meet as he cared deeply about providing enough for his family. Tom and Elaine met as they both worked at Royal Screw. She was a secretary and he was a mechanic. Elaine knew when Tom was scheduled to visit the office and she would make it a point for Tom to notice her. Tom knew as well and a few years they married.

Along with serving in the Army Reserve and National Guard he also ran a weekly Sun News route delivering newspapers to stores and carriers. Tom retired in his early 60's as a USPS Postal Carrier. He enjoyed his golden years and often said that he still didn't have enough time to work on stuff once he retired.

Tom was a man who had a sense of humor. He was often ready to share a joke and make others laugh. He was willing to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and that gained him many friends. He was there to help when you needed it as he enjoyed fixing things.

Tom requested in advance for no flowers. In lieu of this, the family suggests a memorial contribution be made in his name to the charity of your choice.

Placement at Riverside Cemetery, with his beloved Elaine (and parents Charles and Rose) to take place with Military Funeral Honors. A Celebration of Tom's life to take place at a later date.
