Thomas H. Krogman, age 92, passed on to eternal life on December 11, 2024, at the Lancaster Health Services Center in Lancaster, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family.
Tom was born June 1, 1932, on a farm in rural Bloomington, Wisconsin, the son of Herman and Julia Trumm Krogman. He attended grade school at St. Mary’s in Bloomington, and he grew up to be a talented baseball and basketball player. Tom was a member of the 1947 Bloomington Bluejays basketball team that fell one win short of reaching the single-class Wisconsin State Basketball Tournament. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1950 and began farming with his father.
On June 15, 1954, Tom married his sweetheart Evelyn J. Gardner at St. Mary’s Church in Bloomington. Tom and Evie then traveled to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon. This year they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
In the Fall of 1954 Tom enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in West Germany. Evie and their young daughter eventually joined Tom in Germany. They were able to tour parts of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy before returning home in 1956. Tom farmed on the Krogman family farm for many years. He was known for his incredibly strong work ethic. Tom and Evie moved to the village of Bloomington in early 1992.
Tom was an avid hunter, an expert fisherman and a member of the American Legion. He greatly enjoyed watching sports, in particular the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. Tom and Evie, along with their family, had many years of recreation and enjoyment at their cabin at Jay’s Landing near Bagley.
Survivors include his loving wife Evie, their children: Kathy (Jeff) Vorwald, Karen (Gary) Meyer, Tom (Bev) Krogman, Tim (Kathleen) Krogman and Bob (Rene) Krogman. In addition, he is survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 29 step grandchildren/great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Nelda Krogman and Dolores Gardner and brothers-in-law Neil (Doris) Gardner and Chuck (Rita) Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jim (Mary), Jerome, Ernie (Jean), John, Paul and Father Philip Krogman; his sister Norma (Carl) Andrews and brother-in-law Monroe (Wilma) Gardner.
A private family funeral service, presided by Deacon Roger Scholbrock, is being scheduled for a later date.
Special thanks to the staff at Lancaster Health Services for the wonderful care given to Tom.
