Thomas Lenci Obituary

Thomas J. "Tom" Lenci
Born: January 28, 1945 in Joliet, Illinois
Died: September 2, 2025 in Joliet, Illinois
Thomas J. Lenci, "Tom", passed away surrounded by loved ones following a courageous battle with cancer on September 2, 2025.
Tom was born January 28, 1945, in Joliet, IL to Spartuco and Barbara (nee Haake) Lenci. He graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1963 and served in the United States Army from 1965-1967.
Survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 57 years, Kathleen (nee Matesi); his loving children Julia (Doug) Adamic and Jennifer (Brad) Frazier; treasured grandchildren, Alaina and Elizabeth Frazier; step-grandchildren and great-grandchild, Alex (Katherine) Adamic, Maddie Adamic, and Henry Adamic; sisters, Sandra Welch, Pamela Terrell, and Nancy O'Brien; brother, Robert (JoAnne) Lenci; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Matesi, Sharon (Peter) Ferro and Annamarie Matesi; three brothers-in-law, Charles (Nancy) Matesi Jr.,
Daniel (Judith) Matesi and Gregory Siska; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Jesue Lenci and Patricia Siska; and his brother-in-law Dennis Welch.
Tom will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. Tom was happiest when he was spending time with Kathy, the love of his life, especially vacationing in Florida or socializing on 'Fun Fridays." His legacy is one of love and great passion. He did everything big. You would often hear him playing Garth Brooks while grilling his famous smash burgers on Grandpa Tom Wednesdays, his favorite day of the week when those he loved the most joined him for dinner. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, having completed multiple Chicago Marathons and being an avid golfer with two holes in one. He will be remembered most for his greatest joy in life: the everlasting and powerful love he held for his family that will be felt forever.
Memorial Mass for Thomas Lenci will be held Monday, September 8, 2025, at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Drive, Shorewood. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Visitation Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Farkas Funeral Home (Richard J. Tapella – Funeral Director) 3201 West Jefferson Street Joliet.

I´ll miss our visits and chats at Mariano´s. You were an outstanding basketball player, but an even better person, Tom.
