Thomas "Merlynn", age 69, of Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024. Born on July 26, 1955 to Thomas and Theresa Lewandowski, Tom was a man of extraordinary talent, charisma, and leadership.
Tom's passion for music was the driving force behind much of his life. As an avid musician, he led bands with his guitar in hand and a song in his heart. His creativity extended beyond performance; he was also a skilled vocal and recording engineer, owning his own studio where he brought countless projects to life. Throughout his career, Tom had the privilege of recording with many famous artists, a testament to his talent and reputation in the music world. A gifted writer, Tom's words, much like his music, resonated deeply with those who experienced them.
In his youth, Tom was not only a musical talent but also a gifted athlete. He excelled as an award-winning sprinter in high school, where he also played in numerous bands, setting the stage for a life filled with passion and achievement.
Tom began his career working for Thumann's, delivering deli products. His passion for learning and his drive led him into the world of computers, where he worked his way up to becoming the marketing director for the company. Not one to rest on his laurels, Tom later partnered with his long-time friend Frank to open FORT Productions. Eventually, he set off on his own to create the TKL Marketing Company, where he continued to make his mark in the business world.
A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, Tom's love for the game was as deep as his love for music. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team.
Tom was a kind, creative, and incredibly generous man. His charisma drew people to him, and his wonderful sense of humor could lighten any situation. Fearless and always pushing forward, Tom embodied the spirit of an old-school man of the world.
Amidst all his professional accomplishments, Tom and his wife also dedicated themselves to animal rescue, running a dog rescue operation that saved hundreds of dogs over the years.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Karen Kaeumlen, his sister Elisabeth Tysh, his sons, Kenneth Lee Kaeumlen and Kristian Lewandowski, his grandsons, Charles Squeglia, John Michael Hoensch, and Benny Hoensch, his niece, and nephews, and his cherished "fur kids," Bear and Bijou. Tom was loved by many, and his absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends on Thursday August 8, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus, NJ. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
