Thomas "Tom" Ryan Lewis, 54, of Harkers Island, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023.
A funeral service to honor Tom’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 15th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jason Salter. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery on Harkers Island. The family will receive friends one hour prior at Munden Funeral Home.
Tom was born on June 27, 1969, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Carmen Lewis and was adopted and raised by the late Reginald and Madeline Lewis. He was a truly remarkable man, he was tender-hearted, and always ready to lend a helping hand without hesitation. His compassionate nature knew no bounds, and his consistent kindness touched the lives of many. Through thick or thin, Tom was a loyal friend, and no matter the situation, Tom had an uncanny ability to find the silver lining and lift the spirits of those around him.
Tom was an amazing cook and was particularly skilled with his Smoker. Friends and family enjoyed his delicious meals and the fun times they had together around the table.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed drag racing, enjoying the adrenaline rush and the fierce competition with each race. Traveling also held a special place in Tom's heart. Exploring new destinations and experiencing different cultures brought great joy to him. However, no destination compared to the beauty of Ocracoke, which Tom considered to be his happy place.
Above all else, Tom's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted father and proud grandfather who will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, Luke Lewis and Kristopher Lewis and grandson, Weston Lewis, all of Beaufort; his girlfriend, Amy White of Newport and her daughter, Kaitlyn Winberry; sister, Stephanie Lewis of Smithfield; brother, Peter Lewis (Karen) of Elizabeth City; uncle, Reginald “Butch” Lewis (Debbie); cousin, Reginald “Bear” Lewis; nieces, Veronica Lewis and Dana Hargraves; nephews, Andy Dixon, Paul Lewis and Patrick Lewis; friend and former wife, Georgia Waddle; and family friends, Hailey Pearsall and Lily Pearsall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Down East Cal Ripken Baseball Team, the Carteret County Babe Ruth League, and the East Carteret High School Baseball Team.
