Thomas J. Lucas III.
Thomas J. Lucas, III., age 12, of Canton, passed away tragically at his father's home in northeast Canton. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose life, though far too short, was filled with kindness, humor, and quiet compassion.
Thomas was known by his family as loving and caring, with a reserved and thoughtful nature. He was not one to openly share his feelings, but those closest to him knew his heart well. When he felt sad, he found comfort in playing games and listening to music. His favorite movie was The Bad Guys, an animated comedy he loved so much that he watched it back-to-back and insisted on seeing the 2025 sequel on his birthday.
A sixth-grade student at Youtz Intermediate School, Thomas took pride in his education and was once honored as Student of the Month. He was a caring friend with a great sense of humor and deep loyalty, referring to one close friend as his brother. He enjoyed throwing a football with his brother Ethan and the camaraderie of family.
Thomas loved his siblings deeply and showed compassion to everyone in his life. His laughter, kindness, and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Lucas; father Thomas James Lucas, Jr.; his siblings; grandparents; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who cherished him.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Lucas, who passed away on Nov. 15, 2017.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Schneeberger-Oser Funeral Home.
Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Wells of Joy Church, Canton, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A home-going celebration will be held at the church at 12:00 p.m., with interment to follow at North Lawn Cemetery.
Thomas J. Lucas will be remembered for his warmth, his quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
