Born March 27,1944 in South Boston, MA, Tom attended Boston Trade High School, graduate of the class of 1961. Upon graduation he joined the United States Navy and proudly served in the Navy Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees, from 1961-1965. During his active duty he spent 9 months in the South Pole, Antarctica as part of the ongoing construction of the first Naval Air station at McMurdo Sound. Upon his release from active duty, he returned home to Boston to marry his high school sweetheart and start a family. His lifelong passion was carpentry, a member of the Local Board No. 33 Carpenters Union in Dorchester, MA before he took a job at the MBTA where he worked for 27 years to support his family. After retirement he worked as a school bus driver for the town of Marshfield and later at the American Legion, Veterans organization in Duxbury, MA where he was a member.
In his spare time Tom could be found at the Ocean In Brant Rock or working on his woodcraft creating beautiful bird carvings. He loved spending time with his wife and his family and was a great storyteller with an infectious laugh. His stories will live on through his family including his many nieces and nephews whom he loved.
