Thomas “Tom” E. McQuaid passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on February 3, 2025. Tom was born on September 22, 1945 to the late James and Mary McQuaid.
Tom was affiliated with Irwin ECO Presbyterian Church. He worked for Polk Center before entering his retirement. Tom loved farming for many years with his wife Louise; they had everything from chickens, pigs, and cows. Tom loved to deer hunt, and he and Louise used to play a game while hunting to see who could shoot the deer close to the eyeball; Louise won that battle, she got it right in the eye. Tom and Louise loved to go to the casinos and eating at the buffets. Tom loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially during the holidays because he liked all the food, especially the pies.
Tom is survived by Cindy (Rich) L. Kerr, Randy (Anita) L. Kerr, Brenda (Jim) Kerr Thompson, and daughter-in-law Peg Kerr Reddick; as well as 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; He is also survived by several uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Louise McQuaid, his son, Frank R. Kerr, his siblings Mrs. Russel (Twila) Markwell, Mrs. Ebert (Mary) Erikson, Mrs. Duncan (Linda) Zimmer, James “Skip” McQuaid, his aunts, and his infant brother and sister. Tom was also preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Devinney.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, PA, 16153. Family and friends will be welcome at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday, February 6, from 3-5 and 6-8; a funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, at 11am at the funeral home, with Pastor Williard Morse officiating.
