Thomas Mendler

Thomas Mendler, age 76, of Derby, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford. He is the beloved husband of Patricia (Flaherty) Mendler. Thomas was born in Bridgeport on July 5, 1945, son of the late Andrew Charles and Dorothea (McHale) Mendler.
Thomas was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts. He was manager of Grand Union grocer for 15 years and then went on to own his own business, Milford Hallmark Card Shop, until his retirement. Thomas was a lifetime member of the T-Bird Club.
He is the beloved father of Darlene McCabe and her husband Robert McCabe II of Grapevine, TX, and Chrissy Osiecki and her husband Daryl of Shelton, and cherished grandfather of Liam McCabe, Cole McCabe, Claire Osiecki, and Eamon McCabe. He is also survived by his brother Peter Mendler, Sr. of Bonita Springs, FL, his sisters Marie Borden of Sebastian, FL, and Kathleen Murphy and her husband James Murphy of Oxford, CT, his brother-in-law Dennis Flaherty and wife and sister-in-law Kathy Flaherty of Chandler, AZ, his sister-in-law Mechthild Mendler of Cheshire, and his brother-in-law and life long dear friend Robert McBride, Jr. of Greensburg, PA., along with many nieces and nephews.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road Shelton, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements, which are private.
