Thomas B. Miksel, age 82 of Tiro, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Willard Mercy Hospital in Willard, Ohio.
Born May 15, 1943 in Shelby, Ohio to Glenus and Evelyn (Miller) Miksel, he had been a 1961 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and served the United States Army overseas, in Vietnam and Germany. He was employed for numerous years as a truck driver for MTD, and was a member of the Tiro Lutheran church, Crestline VFW, Eagles, and the Shelby American Legion.
Thomas loved to frequent local casinos with his pal Nancy, playing the lottery, scratching off tickets and watching his favorite country western show "Gun Smoke". In his younger years, he enjoyed going hunting.
Those who will cherish his memories include his two special nieces, Sherry (Dan) Little-Bishop of Bucyrus, Ohio and Donna (Brad) Berger of Delphos, Ohio; sister-in-laws, Nancy Little of Tiro, Ohio and Katherine Miller of Bucyrus, Ohio; as well as other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Mae (Miller) Miksel, whom he married in 1967; sister, Evelyn McKew; in-laws Frieda & Woodrow Miller, Mike Little, Roger Miller, and Kevin and Violet Miller.
Friends and family may come to honor his life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. A memorial service will follow starting at 12:00PM at the funeral home with the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail honoring his dedicated service to our country. Reverend Nathan R. McBeth will officiate with interment held at Tiro Oakland Cemetery in Tiro, Ohio.
