Thomas (Tom) Eugene Miller
August 1, 1938 - April 27, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tom Miller on April 27, 2025. He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Rose and Herman Miller. He was preceded in death by his two older brothers, Bill (Dee) and Jim. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. He is also survived by his sister, Bette Miller, his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Miller, and his three children: Tom Jr., Suzanne Fitzpatrick (Glenn) and Kathryn Williams (Ray), as well as five grandchildren Eric (Aleksandra), Chris, Austin, Jay and Virginia, and three great-granddaughters Sophia, Amelia, and Natalia.
Tom was a proud veteran of the Coast Guard. He earned his undergraduate degree and MBA from the University of Detroit and dedicated 42 years of his career to General Motors starting at Chevrolet then transferring to GMC Truck and Coach Division in both Michigan and Georgia. Tom and Gloria retired to Alpharetta, Georgia where they have spent many wonderful years with family and friends.
Beyond his professional life, Tom was active in charity, including Meals on Wheels and North Fulton Charities through the Windward Men's Club. He also enjoyed the GM Retirees Club having served in various leadership roles including President. He also had a passion for working on and fixing old clocks, playing cards, and enjoyed boating on Lake St. Clair in Michigan and Lake Lanier in Georgia. Tom and Gloria loved travelling with family and friends. One of the most memorable trips was their 50th anniversary travelling to London and Paris with all their children and grandchildren.
A life well lived, forever cherished.
