Thomas Ray "Tom" Miller, age 68, of Akron, passed away on September 18, 2025 at Akron City Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1957 to Joseph and Peggy (Knee) Miller in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Franklin Heights High School in 1975. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was proud of his service and while in the service he earned Expert Hand Grenade and Marksman M16 commendations.
Tom worked as a self-employed carpenter for most of his life before retirement.
Tom is survived by his loving mother, Peggy; brother, Douglas Miller; sisters, Naoma (Michael) and April (Eddie); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; as well as his beloved dogs, Gus and Maddie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Miller; grandparents, Rose and Tip; and his aunt, Nancy Knee.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305) on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 11:30am until 1:30pm. We will then process to Hillside Memorial Park (1025 Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44312) where Tom will be laid to rest with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society.
