Thomas Archie Moran was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late Francis and Ione Moran. He was raised in DeTour Village, Port Huron & eventually settled in the Walled Lake area where he graduated from Walled Lake (Central) High School in 1966. He passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, in Toledo, Ohio at the age of 76.
Tom was the beloved father of Jeff Moran, father-in-law to Dani (Beagle) and grandfather to Abigail and Jack Moran. He is survived by his siblings Linda, Lou, Celeste, Marty (Robin), Shawna (Terry) and Pat (Laura) and preceded in passing by his sister Lee. Tom was blessed to know great love in his lifetime and is also survived by Janice Moran and Ruth Ann Wiseley.
Tom served our country as a member of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service Tom worked for Ford Motor Company where he retired.
Working on cars and motorcycles and talking about working on cars and motorcycles was a big part of Tom's life. Tom was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed travelling to many racetracks. Father's Day in Michigan was reserved for NASACR for many years and was a tradition shared with the Beagle family. Tom also loved fishing with his brothers-in-law and friends, many of his daydreams over the past several years included tales of fishing, enjoying the outdoors in Michigan and driving around in his yellow Jeep.
Tom never looked to be the center of attention but could be counted on to show up for the important times with Jeff and his grandkids. He loved to travel and saw most of the 50 States including trips with Jeff & the family to Alaska, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Illinois and Tennessee.
Tom will be remembered with love and respect. He had a big heart and he looked out for the people in his life. He was forgiving, kind and always had time for a cup of coffee.
The Moran family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 11 from 3-7 pm and Friday, April 12 from 9 until time of service, 10 am at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 340 N. Pontiac Trail in Walled Lake.
