Thomas Joseph Naughton passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 21, 2024, at the age of 88.
Thomas (Tom) was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 7, 1936. He was the oldest child of John and Mary Naughton. Tom was a proud first generation Irish-American and passed along his heritage to ensure his family knew where came from. He attended elementary school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and graduated from Fort Hamilton High School.
At age 18, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from the service, he met the love of his life, Nora Kelly. They spent the majority of their years together raising their three daughters in Staten Island, making wonderful memories together. Tom retired as a New York City Police Officer, finishing his career working as a Veterinary Assistant for the canine unit. He had a lifelong love for dogs and always had a canine companion living in his home.
Tom truly lived the American dream; many would call him "lucky". He was most proud of his family; the daughters he raised, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, who knew him as "Pop Pop". Tom was the happiest being surrounded by those he loved and making memories with them. He enjoyed being outdoors and shared a second home in the Pocono Mountains with his family for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Naughton, as well as his brothers, John and James Naughton. Tom will be reunited in heaven with his great-granddaughter, Hallie Grace Gavin.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nora Naughton, and their three loving daughters and sons-in-law: Nora Paul (Larry), Eileen Gavin (Jim), and Carol Rustici (Tom) and his sister Mary Naughton. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Dan Gavin, Tom Gavin (Kristin), Jim Gavin (fiancée Annalyce D'Agostino), Laura Paul and Thomas Rustici. He had great joy from the most recent generation; two great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Benjamin Gavin.
