Thomas D. "Tom" Nickolich, 75, of Maumelle, formerly of Russellville, died Saturday, May 7, 2022, at John L. McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He is survived by his wife, Muriel Ann Nickolich, Maumelle; 3 sons, Kris Keyton (Myndi), Fort Smith, Thomas Nickolich, Phoenix, Arizona, D.S. Nickolich; his daughter, Angelea Joyner (Buck), Morrilton; 8 grandchildren, Ryan and Jackson Joyner (Abby), Jacob, Sam, Levi, and Skip Keyton (Calli), Jacob and Daniel Nickolich; a brother, Teddy Nickolich, Hillsboro, Oregon; a sister, Lisa Lichtenberger, Prescott, Arizona.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 16, 2022, at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville, Arkansas. Father Ray Brown, Buck Joyner, and Kyn Wilson will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Smith Veterans National Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, on Sunday, at the funeral home.
The son of Dushan and June Chandler Joyner Nickolich, he was born July 24, 1946, in Hollywood, CA. He attended Tempe High School and Arizona State University. Tom was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, having received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star device. He and Muriel Johnston were married on June 10, 1978, at Glendale, Arizona.
He was the founder and owner of AAA/Exit Bail Bonds which operates in more than 35 counties in Arkansas. Tom worked with Governor Bill Clinton in the creation of the Arkansas Professional Bail Bondsman Licensing Board, serving for 2 full terms and also served as chairman. He was a founding member of both the Arkansas Professional Bail Association, and the Professional Bail Agents of the United States. He was active in the development of the Rules and Regulations for the Bail Bond Industry in Arkansas and served as a consultant in several other states. Tom was active in supporting the Arkansas Sheriffs' Association and Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police.
He was a long-time member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Russellville and a recent member of St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Maumelle. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf at some of the finest courses in the nation, riding dirt bikes, and watching westerns and listening to gun-fighter ballads and trail songs.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Sheriff's Boys Ranch, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Internet obituary and on-line guest book is available at www.humphreyfuneral.com.
