Thomas Andrew Parkhill III
Thomas Andrew Parkhill III, age 80, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tom was born in Newburgh, New York, at St. Luke's Hospital on September 8, 1945, to Thomas Andrew Parkhill II and Margaret Parkhill, nee Margaret Formes, now both deceased.
Tom graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1964. Tom's college career included earning a B.S. degree in Geology from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and an M.S. degree in Economic Geology - Petrology at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
Tom's Geological career spanned more than fifty years. Most of his Professional Geological career was spent as a successful Consulting Geologist for small and large mining companies in the USA, Namibia, South Africa, and Indonesia. Tom's professional accomplishments included authoring professional papers and discovery of two coal deposits and one lead-silver deposit.
In spite of Tom's busy life, he had hobbies which included mineral collecting, coin collecting and hunting.
He met Ann Marie (Shannon) Parkhill in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and they were married in Rapid City, South Dakota, on July 1, 1995.
After retiring, Tom had time to organize his mineral and coin collections. He also went on a number of big game hunts.
Tom is survived by his younger brother, William Formes Parkhill; his older brother, Robert Oscar Formes, is deceased. He is also survived by his wife, of more than 30 years, Ann Parkhill. They had no children together.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Memorials in Tom's name can be sent to Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, in care of the Geology Department, 801 Leroy Pl Socorro, New Mexico 87801.
