Thomas Robert Peck

Thomas Robert Peck, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. He was born on April 16, 1944, in Montclair, New Jersey. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1962, where he was a standout track and cross-country athlete, known for his determination, discipline, and competitive spirit-qualities that would define his life.

Tom spent most of his adult life in Beachwood, New Jersey, where he raised his family and coached his children. There he made lifelong friends and acquaintances. He later relocated to Hayesville, North Carolina, where he resided for the past five years. On January 2, 2026, he proudly celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary with his beloved and surviving wife, Terry Rowe Peck.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tom leaves behind four sons and eight grandchildren: Tom Peck, Jr., and his children Victoria Peck, Brandon Peck, and Jason Peck; Bill Peck and his wife Kimberly, and their daughters Madison Peck and Charlotte Peck; Jim Peck and his wife Carol, and daughter Candice Peck; Dr. Rob Peck and his wife Dr. Marissa Peck, and their children Mallory Peck and Matthew Peck.

Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corps while still in high school, reflecting a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism. Sergeant Peck served from 1962 to 1966, stationed at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 and aboard a ship during the Dominican Crisis of 1965. Throughout his life, he carried a deep love of country and an unwavering pride in the Marine Corps.

Following his military service, Tom dedicated 35 years to the telecommunications industry, working for Bell Telephone, Bell Atlantic, and Verizon before retiring. His strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment were evident throughout his career and life.

Above all, Tom had a deep affection for his children and grandchildren and took great pride in each of them. Tom was at his happiest when attending his grandchildren's athletic events, concerts and awards ceremonies. He also dearly loved his faithful dog, Gracie, who was a constant and cherished companion. In his quieter moments, he found joy in playing chess, working puzzles, tending to his yard, and appreciating the peace of home and simple routines. He was an avid reader and history buff.

Tom was a man of Christian faith, and his family finds comfort in knowing that he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Tom fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished the race. While his absence is deeply felt, his loved ones take solace in the promise of a glad reunion day. It's not goodbye - it's see you later.

Tom will be remembered for his devotion to family, faithful service to his country, quiet strength, humor and fun-loving spirit.
