Thomas Oscar Peterson, 87, of Aurora, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 due to complications from acute leukemia.
Funeral services will be held at Aurora Baptist Church on May 20 at 2:00 with burial at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1-2 at the Church.
Tom was born on September 19,1937 to Prosser Oscar and Thelma (Lisby) Peterson in Keller, Texas. He married the love of his life Letitia “Tish” Boyer on November 30, 1957. They were married for 55 years until her passing in 2013. Tom lived a great life! If you asked him, that’s what he would tell you. He loved his family, food, fun and friends. He lived life large and every day was an adventure. He was also a curious man which was reflected in his many interests and career choices. Tom started providing for his family at the young age of seven by helping his grandfather harvest the crops on their farm. As he grew, he became responsible for the equipment on the property and helped neighboring farmers with their crops. At the age of 20, Tom became a parks & wildlife warden. At 22, he started a dairy farm. He went on to own an excavation business, build homes, sell real estate, own and operate a concrete plant and a huge sand/gravel plant with the largest deposit of white sand in North Texas. For over a decade he was a member of the ABBI and raised bucking bulls, many of which became champions. In his latter years, he and his daughter opened a seasonal hobby farm on their land called Ruby Creek Family Farm. He traveled the world with his wife Tish; he loved to fish with his son Doniell; and he could often be found at the casino playing the slot machines, which he jokingly called his “other” job.
Tom was a member of the Aurora Baptist Church for many years. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Everyone knew Tom Peterson because he never met a stranger.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; his wife and his brother Joe Don Peterson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Stacy Boyer and husband Eric of Rhome; his son, Doniell Peterson of North Richland Hills; his sister, Sherry Wood and husband Mack of Bedford and his brother John Peterson and wife Marie of Boyd; grandchildren: Zach and Axel Boyer, Hannah Masterson, Blayne Smith and Doniell Drey Peterson II; ten great grandchildren; and the second love of his life and best friend Billie Wisdom.
