CLIFTON PARK - Thomas J. Petronis, 79, of Clifton Park, passed away, on May 17, 2025, at Ellis Hospital. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Sophie and Stephen Petronis. Thomas is survived by his loving spouse, Joseph J. Hanssen, Jr., of 48 years.
In addition to his spouse, Thomas is survived by his brothers, Joseph Petronis, Stephen Petronis, and Eugene Petronis; and his loving sister, Gertrude Vinett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Thomas was an engineer at GE for 18 years and employee of CEO of Applied Robotics, Inc. in Glenville, New York, where he worked for 25 years. He traveled the world during his business career. He was an inventor with many patents and the inventor of the hand exchange for Robotic systems. He was a Corvette enthusiast who loved Corvettes and was a member of the Corvette Museum.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New KarnerRd., Colonie, N.Y. 12205. A sharing of memories will be begin at 7 p.m.
