Debra Petronis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fulton Family Funeral Home (formerly Heritage) - Lampasas on Mar. 9, 2026.
Debby Petronis went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 6, 2026 after a brief illness. She was 75 years old. Debra Lee Simmons Petronis (Debby) was born and raised in Amarillo, TX. She attended Baylor University and graduated with a degree in education. While there, she met her husband, Joe. They moved to Lampasas in 1981 and were married for 53 years.

Debby was a stay at home mom for many years raising their 3 children (Amie, Jody, Joby). Then, her love of children led her to Lampasas ISD where she worked mainly in the elementary school library. For the past 13 years, "Miss Debby" was at the First Baptist Church pre-school where she enjoyed greeting the kids each morning.

Debby spent most of her time outdoors in her garden growing wildflowers. She loved chatting with friends and neighbors as well as volunteering in the Lampasas community. She was a kind and caring soul that made everyone feel welcomed. Her grandchildren loved their "DeDe" and looked forward to visiting with her. During basketball season, you could find her rooting for the Baylor Bears!

She is survived by her husband Joe; daughter Amie (Eric) Plumley, grandchildren Phoebe and Frank; son Jody (Mary) Petronis, grandsons JR and Tommy; and daughter Joby Weninger, granddaughter Nelda.

To honor her memory, you are encouraged to plant wildflowers, blow some dandelions, and spend time in nature.

I'm so sorry to hear of Debbie's passing. She was a beautiful soul who had such great love for everyone she met. My prayers are with Joe and the family.
