Greece, New York
Thursday, March 2, 2023 at age 71. Predeceased by his parents Elbert C. Power and Mary R. Power. Tom is survived by his siblings, Kathleen (Rick) Stark and John Power; loving nieces and nephews, Jacqueline (Jeff) Heeder, Chelsea (Jason) Rosato, Daniel, Bryan (Becca), Michael and Katelyn; great-nieces and nephews, Isabella, Jaimesyn, Gabriella, Jaxsyn.
Tom was born in Rochester, N.Y. on October 11, 1951. He graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School in 1969. After graduating, he enlisted into the Air Force in 1970. He served at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Tom became an avid skier and skied most of the major ski areas in North America. After leaving the Air Force, he worked in the ski industry at both Medicine Bow Ski Area in Centennial, Wyoming and Aspen Mountain Ski Company in the 1970's and 1980's. He was an accomplished skier who raced with an Aspen Mountain Ski Team. During the off season, he operated heavy equipment for the United States Forest Service. After his time in Wyoming, he moved back to Rochester and worked at MKS Instruments as an engineering tech for 25 years.
There were many things Tom enjoyed. He loved mountain biking, being in nature, animals, music and a good book.
A special thank you from Tom's family to the staff at Unity Hospital and St. Mary's for all your love and support that you provided during his long and courageous battle.
Relatives and friends may join for a prayer service at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue, on Tuesday, March 7 at 11AM.
