Thomas Joseph Powers

Of DeWitt, Michigan, and formerly of Eaton Rapids, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the age of 63. Thomas was born on May 29, 1962, the beloved son of Richard and Betty (Sundermann) Powers.

At just 18 months old, Thomas experienced an accident that halted his physical and developmental growth. While his life followed a different path than most, it was still filled with meaningful moments, comfort, and joy. Thomas taught those around him patience, compassion, and the quiet beauty found in simple pleasures.

For the past 15 years, Thomas resided in an adult care home in DeWitt, where he was deeply cared for and loved. He especially enjoyed rocking in his chair, teasing and joking with the staff, and spending time outdoors, where he found peace in nature's beauty.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kathleen Joann Powers; and his half-sister, Kris Vaive.

He is survived by his siblings, Sharon (Paul) Robbins, Richard Powers, Michael (Sheila) Powers, and Kelly Byron; his special nieces and nephews, Rachelle, Aryiana, Kaydience, and Nickelle; his devoted friend and caretaker, Janelle Lewis; and many extended family members who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
