Thomas Rainey Obituary
Tom was united in marriage on December 1, 1956, to Jill Jacobs in Allens Grove, WI, and they spent the next 61 years together until Jill's passing on November 24, 2017.
Tom was an avid Nascar fan and very rarely left the house without wearing his Skittles cap or a Nascar tee. Biking was his jam; his favorite biking destination was the Katy Trail in St. Charles, Missouri.
Tom is survived by his three children; Thomas R. of Walworth, Matthew (Renee) of Greenfield, Debra (Steven) Schmitt of Woodstock, IL., and his grandchildren; Jennifer Cruz, Korina Rainey, Brittany Barden, Jacob (Riley) Barden, and Courtney (Nicholas) Thom. Tom was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Christman, Jerri (Larry) Burns, Susan Fairchild, Lori (Robert) Kelley; brother-in-law, Rick Bogart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sister, Helen Watson; as well as sisters-in-law, Lynn Krause, Pat Bogart; also, brothers-in-law, Gerald Wood, Arthur Christman, David Fairchild, and David Krause. He was also preceded in death by infant niece, Amy Kelley; two grandchildren, Kristen (Brett) Seese.
Tom was a hard worker and could handle any job he tried, including Dairy Farming, Barker Lumber, Thiele Brothers Construction, International Harvester, Farm City Elevator, and custodial work at Sharon Elementary School for 32+ years. Tom was very passionate about the school environment and all the friends he met there. He tried to retire but couldn't stay away and returned a short time later as Lead Custodian until his final retirement in 2017.
Friends may visit from 9:30 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Toynton Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St. A private funeral service for family will start at 11:00 am.
The family would like to thank the Mercy Hospice Team for their caring and compassionate care.
