Thomas Francis Ramsbottom

Thomas Francis Ramsbottom, 85, of Leola, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Life Care Center of New Market, VA

Mr. Ramsbottom was born on March 16, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA, and was a son of the late Thomas Francis and Dorothy Catherine (Reese) Ramsbottom. Tom worked as a computer programmer for most of his career. He worked on computers from the time they were as big as a room until you could carry around a laptop. After he retired from working on computers, he worked in an IU 13 classroom and enjoyed caring for and supporting the students. Tom's two biggest loves outside of his family were golf and Notre Dame. Tom's father was present the day Tom made a hole-in-one at the 17th hole in the Lancaster City County tournament at the Lancaster Country Club. Tom enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and followed their team closely every season.

After he retired from working Tom enjoyed participating in charitable events and helping others. Tom participated in Walks for Life, helped churches with feeding others, and loved being out talking to people and sharing the love of Jesus.

On September 9, 1961, he married the former Joanne Schober who survives.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Ramsbottom is survived by his children, Thomas Ramsbottom and wife, Heidi of Mohnton, PA, Craig Ramsbottom of Richmond, VA, Mary Hess and husband, Daniel of Rockingham, VA, and John Ramsbottom and wife, Rachel of Staunton, VA; nine grandchildren, Heather Jackson and husband, Tristian of Waynesboro, VA, Alecia Wenger and husband, Colton of Harrisonburg, VA, Jyrell Hess and wife, Amber of Harrisonburg, VA, Abigail Ramsbottom-Cuevas and husband, Cristian of Brookings, SD, Sarah Ramsbottom of Costa Mesa, CA, Hannah Ramsbottom of Philadelphia, PA, Joseph Ramsbottom of Richmond VA, Kaya Snow and husband, Jared of Longview, WA, and Gracey Ramsbottom of Mohnton, PA, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, John Ramsbottom.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 10 a.m., at Groff-High-Eckenroth Funeral Home, 145 W. Main Street, New Holland, PA 17557, with Daniel Hess officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be held at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
