Thomas Patrick Roth Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and devoted servant of the Lord passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, at the age of 88, at Wills Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Saturday, October 31st, 1936, in the Ficklin Community of Washington, Georgia, Thomas lived a life characterized by faith, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family.
Thomas was a respected insurance agent and served as the staff manager at the Washington office of American General for many years. His professional life was marked by integrity and commitment, earning him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
A man of deep faith, Thomas was an active member of Victory Baptist Church, where he worshiped his Savior and participated wholeheartedly in church activities. His love for Jesus was evident in his daily life and interactions, and he was a fervent supporter of the church's mission work.
Family was at the heart of Thomas's world. Thomas's legacy is one of love and commitment, evidenced by a remarkable 68-year marriage to his loving wife, whose partnership led to a lifetime of shared joys and cherished memories. Together, they built a family foundation that spans generations. He delighted in attending his grandchildren's school programs and sports games, cheering them on with pride and affection. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he leaves behind: his beloved wife, Gladys Myers Roth; his sons, Thomas Patrick Roth Jr. and wife Angie of Washington, and Darrell Jeffrey Roth and wife Sonya of St. Augustine, Florida. He was a loving grandfather to Craig Roth and his wife Stangella, Lori Tucker and her husband Kevin, Patrick Roth and his wife Patricia, Jeffrey Roth and his wife Brittaney, and Besty Rothman, and was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren: Ashley Reynolds (Matt), Brittany Roth, Makayla Cox (Jeremy), C.J. Roth, Jake Tucker, Barrett Tucker, Kolbi Tucker, Georgia Roth, Jackson Roth, Ella Roth, Alexander Rothman, Darrell "DJ" Roth and James Roth. He is also survived by his cherished great-great-grandchildren, Tallen Cox and Lily Roth, his loving sister, Regina Merritt of Martinez, Georgia.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lottie Roth, his siblings, Charlie "C. L" Roth, Bernice Nunn, Etta Mae Nunn, Wyman Roth, and a granddaughter, Bonnie Roth. He now joins them in eternal rest.
A funeral service to celebrate Thomas's life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Reverend Jimmy Chapman and Reverend Paul Wright. Following the church service, Brother Ken Bowers will conduct the graveside committal service at Resthaven Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at Victory Baptist Church on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.
Honoring Thomas as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Roth, Patrick Roth, Kevin Tucker, Jake Tucker, Al Lamar, and Ben Lamar. Honorary pallbearers will include Barrett Tucker, Alexander Rothman, and Darrell Jeffrey Roth III.
The family kindly requests that donations be made to the Victory Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 710, Washington, GA 30673, to honor Thomas's love and support for the church's work.
