Thomas Jay Rusler

It is with tears of sadness mixed with tears of joy that we announce the passing of Thomas J. Rusler from his earthly life to his heavenly home.
He was our much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend, neighbor, coach and fellow golfer.
He was born December 11, 1934 in Beech Grove, Indiana to George and Barbara Rusler and entered Heaven on February 22, 2024 at the age of 89.
He married Julia (Judy) Clouser at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Indianapolis on February 8, 1958. They celebrated 66 years together this month. He has four children, Cindy Turner of Mooresville, IN, Bob (Kathy) Rusler of Fairland, IN, Karen (Jeff) Hampton of Bainbridge, IN and Bill (Denise) Rusler of Edgewood, KY. He has nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one dog, Dory.
In his youth he was a track star at George Washington High School and at Butler University. He was a Proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was always very active and giving of his time. He was a volunteer fireman, Boy Scout leader, dog lover, coach of many sports, especially his beloved track, was an avid golfer and an awesome woodworking craftsman. He was active in Nativity Catholic Church in Indianapolis. He was a wonderful example of a Christian and family man who taught his children well. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville.
He is surely in Heaven as we speak teaching those that want to know how to come out of the blocks to run their best 100 yard dash ever, driving hole in ones and swing dancing with the angels!
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2:30 PM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McLary Rd. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday from 12:30 – 2:30 PM also in the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home.
