Thomas ("Russ") Russell of Clove Valley, NY passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022. Thomas was born in Sharon CT on July 4, 1958 to James W. and Helen K. Russell (Doland). He was 64 years old.
Thomas graduated Millbrook High School in 1977 and worked at the Clove Valley Rod and Gun Club for 38 years. There he was in charge of managing the fields, serving as a hunting guide, and training and keeping care of hunting dogs.
"Russ" was active in the community and a friendly neighbor in the Clove. He was active in the Millbrook and Union Vale Fire Departments and a coach for youth sports in Beekman and surrounding communities. He was active in horse pull judging around Dutchess County and had a love for tractors and farming. He enjoyed the outdoors, training and taking care of hunting dogs for himself and members of the community. He loved fishing on the boat on the Hudson and was an avid gardener. He was always happy to lend a helping hand and was a mentor to many in the Clove. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Thomas is survived by his long-time partner Christine "Tina" Kruse of Clove Valley, NY and two brothers Robert (Linda) Russell of Clever, MO and Jay (Carlene) Russell of Clinton Corners, NY. He is also survived by his children James (Amanda) Russell of Latham, NY, Matthew (Andrea) Russell of Etna, ME, Melissa (Eric) Bubeck of Ravena, NY (mother Katherine (Sanders) of Latham, NY); Kristin Kruse (fiancé Jon), and Brianna (Keith) Jennings. Thomas also loved his grandchildren dearly who also survive: Corbin, Melody, Maddox, Amelia, Hunter, Jacob, and baby boy due to arrive in December. He is also survived by Boots, his beloved hunting dog.
A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at the Tymor Park large hall on Saturday Oct 1 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
