Thomas E. Shaw

Thomas E. Shaw, age 58, of Marshfield, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville. Rev. Barry Saylor and Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Town of Richfield, Wood County. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and from 9:30 am until service time on Tuesday at Corpus Christi Church.
Tom was born on February 26, 1965, in Marshfield, to Elton and Cecilia (Gosar) Shaw and was a 1983 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. Shortly thereafter, he was joined in marriage with his wife Betty on August 16, 1986, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal.
Tom always made time for his family, whether it was playing ball, building snow forts, or teaching them how to do things, he took the time needed to show his love for them. Tom was the co-owner of Shaw's Wrecking Yard LLC where he had worked his entire life. Rain or shine, weekday or weekend, sickness, or health, he was hard at work in the yard. Tom was well-known for his ability to fix, fabricate, repair, and create innovative solutions to most any mechanical issue. He was an automotive enthusiast. He especially enjoyed NHRA drag racing and Mopar – his pride and joy being his 1970 B5 Blue Plymouth Roadrunner. He was also passionate about his dogs: a lifetime love he had held ever since he was a boy.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Betty Jean (Schmidt) Shaw, his son, Zachary (Meghan) Shaw, and daughter, Cecily (Andy) Shaw, his first grandchild, Mason Thomas, his sisters, Joan (David) Boehning, Jean Shaw and Theresa Shaw, his mother-in-law, Betty Schmidt, and his niece, Denise (Mike) Lindau and other family members who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton Shaw (d. 2012) and Cecelia Shaw (d. 2022) and by his father-in-law, Bernard Schmidt (d. 1987)
The Shaw family would like to thank Dr. Isaac Yaboah and his staff for giving us these past years to spend with Tom.
