Mr. Thomas ‘Randal’ Shirley, 60, of S. Broad Street, Bowman, husband of Debbie Vickery Shirley, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at his residence, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Royston on June 12, 1964, Randal was the third of six children born to Billy Samuel Shirley and Novil Cobb Shirley, and was a 1982 graduate of Madison County High School. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and employed with Madison County Collision Clinic in Ila where he worked as an auto collision technician.
A talented musician, Randal is most remembered for his involvement with the gospel group, Lazarus Unwound. He enjoyed visiting the mountains, camping, and especially trout fishing, Above all, his greatest love was his wife, three children, and eight grandchildren who adored their “Pop Pop.”
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 34 years, Debbie, are his children: Ethan (Miranda) Shirley of Elberton, Morgan (Truett) Floyd of Tampa, FL, and Josh (Stephanie) Simmons of Bowman; grandchildren: Paisley Floyd, Eleanor Floyd, Ellie Simmons, Skyler Shirley, Henry Floyd, Clara Floyd, Jaxton Shirley, and Aspen Shirley; siblings: Donna Kerns, Debbie (Terry) Hill, Sharon (Eric) Pawelski, Todd Shirley, and James (Melissa) Shirley; parents-in-law, Jimmy and Rebecca Vickery; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Friday, November 15, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Randal’s life will be conducted on Saturday, November 16, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Tim Adams, Jeff Vaughn, and Tim Vaughn officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will include Terry Dalton, Tony Burden, Doug Sanders, Jerry Kotal, Danny Hunter, Rock Evans, Austin Shirley, and Jake Shirley.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
