Thomas Shouse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Webb Funeral Home - Shelbyville on Mar. 11, 2026.
Thomas Theador "Ted" Shouse, Jr., 87, Shelbyville, died Wednesday, March 11, 2026 unexpectedly at his home. A native of Oldam County, he was the son of the late Thomas Theador Alexander Shouse, Sr. and Edith Belle Bramblett Shouse, and he grew up in Shelby County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving two years primarily in Germany. He graduated from Evangel Bible College in Louisville and obtained his doctorate in theology from International Bible Seminary in Clearwater, Fl. A career in the ministry followed, where he led countless people to Christ. He served as the minister of Prevailing Word & Worship in Shelbyville. His ministry extended beyond the walls of the church as he helped those in need. He mowed the grounds and cleaned the church twice weekly, his car was always spotless, and he kept his yard manicured to perfection. Additionally, he and his wife and life partner, Miriam, provided home and yard services for a local family for many years. Ted's ministry went with him wherever he was at the time.

In addition to his parents, four sisters, Dorothy Watson, Carolyn Warford, Ann Gilbert and Martha Jean Shouse, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Miriam Snider Shouse of Shelbyville; his sister, Mary Husband of Shelbyville; two brothers, Wallace Shouse (Martha Ann) of Pleasureville and Fletcher Shouse (Sharon) of Eminence and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members and friends.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2026 at Prevailing Word & Worship, 1601 Cherry Ln., Shelbyville, KY 40065 with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. His wife, Pastor Miriam Shouse, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Cropper Cemetery.
