Thomas Lloyd Smith passed away June 7, 2025 in Lakewood Ranch FL at the age of 77. Tom was born January 16, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to Walter and Jane (Lueking) Smith, after his sister Nancy Smith Johnson
Tom grew up in St. Louis and attended the John Burroughs School, where he excelled in soccer and football, and enjoyed cars like his 1963 Corvette. He then attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, joined Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and soon met his future wife Karen Sue Savage. The couple were married in 1969 and graduated in 1970, Tom with a degree in business, Karen in history.
Spending 4 years in the US Coast Guard and beginning his business career, Tom lived in Washington, Illinois, California, Texas, and finally Florida. In addition to being proud and loving parents of 3 children - Jenny, Tommy and Alex - Tom and Karen were devoted grandparents to Jackie, Chase, Juliana, Riley, Connor and Allen.
Tom was proud of his career in business, working in operations at a high level for large corporations such as Johnson & Johnson, Miller Brewing, and Frito Lay. Tom received many awards for his business acumen and was an avid race car driver in his spare time, competing in SCCA and other organizations in 7 different racing classes.
Tom is survived by his 3 children, all the grandchildren, and his sister Nancy. His wife Karen passed away before her time in 2013, but Tom remained devoted to her memory until his final days. May he now rest in peace and be together with her forever.
