Thomas E. Sullivan

Thomas E. ("Tom") Sullivan, 34 of Downers Grove died suddenly at Good Samaritan Hospital on Monday, August 18, 2025. He was born on July 13, 1991 to Dan and Cindy (Moore) Sullivan of Downers Grove.

Tom attended St. Mary of Gostyn Grade School and was a 2009 graduate of Downers Grove South High School.

Tom suffered the challenges associated with a lifetime of diabetes, diagnosed at age 2, yet refused to let the disease define or limit him. He was a union laborer and an aspiring first responder. He loved his family, friends, and cars. He had a huge heart and a generous spirit, and in accordance with his wishes donated his tissues after death to Gift of Hope so that others have a better life.

Tom was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ed Sullivan and Tom Moore, and his grandmother, Jo Sullivan.

In addition to his parents, Tom is survived by his brother Brendan (Kate) Sullivan of Indianapolis, his sister Shannon (Kevin) Jarzabkowski of Downers Grove, his niece, Blake Jarzabkowski of Downers Grove, his Grandmother, Nancy Moore, his aunts, uncles, cousins, a wide circle of friends, and an oversized share of Moose, the Sullivan family cat.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 9-11:00 AM, at the Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave, Darien, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 noon at St. Mary of Gostyn Catholic Parish, 445 Prairie Ave, Downers Grove. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory to Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
