Thomas W. Talbot, 81, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away January 21, 2024, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville surrounded by his family. Tom's kind-hearted nature and dedication to his family and community will be dearly missed.
Tom was born on June 14, 1942, in Waterville, KS, to Roy B. and Aleta M. (Stone) Talbot. He grew up in Elm Creek Township southeast of Marysville with his older brothers Richard & Don and little sister Sandra. In 1960, he graduated from Marysville High School. Tom attended the University of Kansas and Emporia State University receiving a B.S. in Business Management and Accounting in 1966.
On December 30, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Dixie Breeding. After graduation, he joined Bankers Life Nebraska in Lincoln until 1977 when he returned to Marysville to sell life and health insurance until his retirement in 2010.
Tom loved to be outdoors hunting, fishing, mowing the lawn and especially playing golf. He also enjoyed reading books, playing Wordle, his daily morning coffee (iced tea) with friends and following the Kansas Jayhawks. Tom loved spending time with his children and grandchildren – watching their sporting events, celebrating their successes and making memories together.
More than anything, Tom loved Dixie. Tom and Dixie went ‘steady’ for 5 years before he convinced her to marry him. They have since shared a surprise 40th wedding anniversary party with family & friends in 2002 and recently celebrated their 60th anniversary together with cupcakes in 2022. Tom's 80th birthday party was unforgettable as it was interrupted by a tornado in June 2022.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and grandson, Mark Hunter Talbot.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie; son, Heath (Rebecca) Talbot of Gypsum, CO; daughter, Leslie (Scott) Wilson of Frisco, TX; and his grandchildren: Abigail, Jaxson, and Jayson Talbot of Gypsum, CO; Paige Wilson of Birmingham, England; and Tige Wilson of College Station, TX.
The visitation was Wednesday, January 24, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.
The celebration of life service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 25 at the Marysville Methodist Church.

The honorary pallbearers were Jon Padden, Jim Chaulk, Tom Malotte, Marty Malotte, Veryl Jessen, Mark LeSage, Bud Schuette, Bob Pont, Dave Zutterman and Lonnie Phillips.
