Thomas Treece, age 63, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Advent Littleton Hospital in Littleton. He was born February 12, 1962, in Grand Junction, to Jack and Marilyn (Davis) Treece. Tom was a 1980 graduate of Smoky Hill High School, and a graduate of the University of Colorado-Denver in 1996.
Tom had a passion for filmmaking and viewing. During the 1980s, he belonged to the Fantastic Filmworks club, which created numerous short animations and other films that aired on local television stations at the time. He had a passion for music and played trumpet throughout his school and college years. He loved to sing and performed with the St. Mary’s Church choir for a few years. His neighbors would comment that they could hear him sing and whistle daily in his house. Tom recalled many fond family memories of river trips with his father, brother, sister, and friends, as well as a love for Lake Powell. Tom was an accomplished structural designer for over 30 years and worked for a number of engineering companies in the Denver metro area.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn and his sister, Bonnie. He is survived by his father Jack; his wife Patti; his children, Justin, and Kirsten; his brother Dave and sister-in-law Jackie; stepsisters Debby and Sally; nieces Jasmin, Danielle, Katie and Portia; nephew Nik; mother-in-law, Stella, brothers-in-law Daniel and Richard; and sister-in-law Karin.
Tom’s family will be holding a funeral mass at Pax Christi Catholic in Highlands Ranch, CO on January 24th at 11 a.m. Reception will follow at the church at noon. Please join us to share memories, laughs and reminisce.
