It is with profound sadness that we share, Thomas R. Uetz, has passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Tom was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Tom grew up the oldest of four children including his brother Bob, and sisters Mary Louise and Joanne to Marie and William Uetz. Tom was raised in the Juniata neighborhood of the city, served as an altar boy at Holy Innocents Parish and graduated from North Catholic High School. After high school Tom enlisted in the Air Force where he bravely served during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Tom had a tenured career as a SEPTA trackless trolley bus operator for 34 years. Tom enjoyed engaging with passengers on their daily trips as he escorted them to their destination.

Tom was a devoted father to Jennifer (Matt) Hartley and Maggie Uetz and was a true “girl dad” before being a “girl dad” was a thing. Tom was a proud Grandfather to Gavin, who he loved spending time with riding the SEPTA train and watching Gavin grow into an accomplished baseball player. Tom is also survived by his loving sister, Sr. Joanne Uetz, SSJ.

During his retirement in Florida, Tom became a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2505, where you would find him volunteering for tootsie roll drives, bingo events and parking cars during the Spring Training season.

Tom will be remembered for his laidback demeanor, his engaging personality, and his deep love and dedication to his mother, siblings, children, grandchild and friends. Tom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Holy Innocents Church, 1337 E. Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124. Visitation begins at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.
