He was born on June 19, 1939 to Elmer Curtis and Mary Lucille (Cogley) Uplinger in Kittanning, PA.
He attended Kittanning High School and graduated from Vale Technical School in Blairsville. Thomas was a member of Local Union #952.
In his spare time, he enjoyed anything that involved locomotive trains.
Surviving are his, nephew, Kenneth Uplinger and companion, Lori McIntire of Kittanning; niece, Deborah (Greg) Huey of Shelocta; brother-in-law, David Brink of Kittanning; and life-long friend and neighbor, James Hawkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Uplinger; sisters, O. Lorraine Uplinger and Fern Brink; and a sister-in-law, Doris Uplinger.
Funeral services are private and have been entrusted to the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., Rural Valley.
Burial will take place in the Pleasant Union Cemetery.
